Here is an easy tutorial how to insert ExGFX:
You need following things:
- A Super Mario World Rom
- Lunar Magic
- The ExGFX file you will insert
1. Open a clean rom with Lunar Magic and press on the red mushroom in the toolbar and then on the green mushroom. Now press on the blue mushroom and a message should pop up: "No ExGFX found in the ExGraphics directory!"
2. Extract your ExGFX and put the Map16Page and Map16PageG in the SAME folder as your hack. Then you put the ExGFX file in the ExGraphics folder and rename it to "ExGFX80" or "ExGFX81" and so on...
3. Open Lunar Magic and click on the yellow mushroom in the toolbar and it should say at the bottom "ExGFX insertion complete"
4. Click on the red poisonus mushroom and check the box at the top. Now insert the ExGFX in FG3. (FG3 for Foreground GFX and BG1 for Background GFX, if you have more than one ExGFX file, insert them in a slot you want. FG1 is for the first half of the first page of the 8x8 Tile Map Editor, FG2 for the second half of the first page, BG1 for the first half of the second page and FG3 for the second half of the second page)
4. Open up the 16x16 Tile Map Editor and go to the third page with the arrow keys. Now press F3 and it ask "Load ExGFX from Map16Page and Map16PageG"? Click OK and then you see your GFX. Now PRESS F9 and click OK to save the datas.
5. Now go in the add objects window, go in the Direct Map 16 Access and scroll down to the third page.
NOTE: You insert FG ExGFX in pages 3-F and BG ExGFX in pages 12-1F. And when you rename ExGFX files start at ExGFX80.
